2. Shared Knowledge
• A community based forum for people to share knowledge on grants or supports that
people are entitled to
• Lack of communication and information about pensions, benefits etc. Radio very
valuable resource. No official way to give out information locally
• Louth Public Participation Network – Put people forward – Get registered
• Lack of clear infrastructure on what is available and how to access it
• More supports for people with mental health problems and their families
• More co-ordination between agencies in relation to mental health issues and supports
• More information needed on PPN
• Prioritise programmes that involve knowledge sharing and collaboration amongst
community groups – PPN/LLP and Louth Volunteer centre working together. Linked
to “community hubs” in “shared space” section
Action: Expand and increase the distribution of the Friday Communiqué
• Encourage more youth organisations in delivering sexual education in a
youth sector/centre rather than school. Added to Plan as youth services
delivering actions
• Need Louth County Council to support and promote the “Changing Lives”
initiative, in which the Genesis Programme is a partner, supporting families
with children at risk of ADHD – An Interreg VA funded project. Covers all of
Co. Louth
• The Genesis Programme are implementing a transition programme in three
stages: Transition to parenthood, Transition to Pre-School, Transition to Primary
School (Little Steps to Big School) - Added to the plan
Action: Develop school based peer education training programmes to complement
SPHE drug syllabus
