Public Transport
• Accessibility not available on public bus, limited to taxi/ shared. No opportunities to
mix/ socialise
• Need all local transport to be accessible
• Create bus stops and shelters with timetables. Expand routes. Include private bus
companies on website. TownTransport.ie – Website/ App
• Access to timetables, local transport and cost of trips - not available locally
• Rural transport means access to programmes, classes, talks, workshops - need higher
media profile regionally
Action: Provide "accessible to all" transport including appropriate bus shelters, (in
consultation with local community) with up to date information using websites/
apps, etc, for real time info
Existing Green Spaces
• Improved town environment - currently no trees/plants, etc
• Green spaces in towns - communications
• Spaces exist but they’re not maintained. Green spaces in town centres
• Encourage the creation and maintenance of clean and pleasant open spaces for the
enjoyment of local communities
• Urban shared spaces
• Parks / Green spaces under-utilised (poor security, dangerous)
• More green/ park areas. More spaces needed for young people who’ve dropped out
of school
• Shared space. Landscape strategy. What is available for use by the wider community?
Using resources available in a meaningful way
Action: Maximise the use of existing green space in urban areas through the
development of a landscape strategy providing recreational and leisure space for
enjoyment of all ages and abilities, e.g. matching green space to school and youth
centres areas, nursing homes and day care centres
